The Kent Show 2024

The Kent Show 2024

At the beginning of 2024 we were fortunate enough to be asked by one of the Stewards of the Kent show, to create some sculptures that were to be displayed in the Hobbies & Pastimes tent in the Heritage section of the show. They had decided on a nautical theme for us & asked if we could create something to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the RNLI - The Charity that saves lives at sea.

Rob (The Toolbox Artist) Quickly got to work & after discovering a photo of a Victorian lifeboat, he decided to use that as his inspiration, recreating the terrifying scene & brave crew out of old tools.

Then he got started on his next piece, the iconic RNLI Tamar class Lifeboat. A symbol of hope to any of those lost at sea. Both sculptures took several weeks to create, as The Toolbox Artist was determined to do both boats justice, giving them both an incredible amount of detail & time.

Libby (The Workshop Widow) Got to it just as fast! Creating several smaller pieces, which could be beautiful decorations around any home! But her biggest inspiration came when she found a piece of wood with a natural dip in it, which she carved into a canoe! Before creating a nut and bolt man with oars to sit inside of it. She also created the RNLI Sign that featured at the centre of the stand at the Kent Show!

Despite the drizzly start and intermittent downpours the 3 day event was a hit! Both Rob & Libby got the chance to chat with some of you face to face & made sure all the little (and some big ones!) got stickers! We hope you all enjoyed our sculptures & told all your friends about us!

If you did have a lovely chat with us and would like to come visit just get in contact, you can book a viewing at the bottom of our main page, or you can contact us directly for any other queries via the Contact us page.

Of course a big thank you to everyone who donated to the RNLI!! We Raised over £250 pounds! And another huge thankyou to every member of the RNLI for all the incredibly brave work that they do!
